From the chapel of the Virgin Mary Axinon (Panagia ton Axinon) on the island's main northern road, we head northeast at the intersection, toward Saint George (Agios Georgios) in Vrysi. Around 1.9 km from the intersection, we reach an area with greenery (one of few on the island): a palm tree (the only one) and a plane tree. Under the plane tree is the spring of Vrysi, ever abundant in water. The road splits here, the left path leads to the church of the Prophet Elias (Profitis Ilias) in 1.5 km, on a small mound with a pretty view. Next to the church there is a cement threshing floor. A little farther down, we will find a second little old church and a second cement threshing floor. The path that heads to the right at the intersection will lead us (in about 2.1 km) to the lonely, pebble-strewn beach of Saint George. We will find the church with the same name a few meters before the beach, hidden by some tamarisk trees that cast their natural shadow.
