Petrino ktisma se Kakovolo

For a very interesting (although tiring) trip, we can visit the old mining facilities at Kakovolo. The path begins a bit before the mobile phone antennas, which we will encounter at the end of the road that passes the churches of the Presentation of the Virgin Mary (Eisodia tis Theotokou, or Eisodia tis Panagias) and of the Prophet Elias (Profitis Ilias). Beginning next to an iron gate, the path heads northeast and continues for about 1300 meters. The problem is that it is not an actual path. Almost all signs of it have been lost in the vegetation. By straying slightly from the path, about 300 meters west of the old mining facilities and 50 meters farther down, we can visit a stone structure with a threshing floor (a reminder that there was once life here). At this point, we have a remarkable view of the vast blue of the Aegean, with the island of Tzia (Kea) in the distance.
