Petrino ktisma pros metallia Kakovolu

For a very interesting (although tiring) trip, we can visit the old mining facilities at Kakovolo. The path begins a bit before the mobile phone antennas, which we will encounter at the end of the road that passes the churches of the Presentation of the Virgin Mary (Eisodia tis Theotokou, or Eisodia tis Panagias) and of the Prophet Elias (Profitis Ilias). Beginning next to an iron gate, the path heads northeast and continues for about 1300 meters. The problem is that it is not an actual path. Almost all signs of it have been lost in the vegetation. The route will take us past hidden mine galleries, abandoned buildings, and threshing floors that remind us there was once life here. There is a stone structure 400 meters from the beginning of the path (which initially crosses a ravine).
