Located between three regional units (Arcadia, Elis and Messenia) in the center of the Peloponnese, the Temple of Apollo Epicurius (Epikourios) is considered one of the most important ancient Greek monuments. This work by the architect of the Parthenon, Iktinos, was built between 420 and 410 BC. In 1896 it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
