Ano Kotylio is a village in Gortyna, Megalopolis, where new houses were built a little higher up after the catastrophic earthquakes of the 60's. A very beautiful 7-kilometer dirt road begins there, heading west to the Temple of Apollo Epicurius (Epikourios). The beginning of the route passes through the pine forest of the Cypriot Firefighters. At a sign approximately 1.5 kilometers from Ano Kotylio, the relatively good dirt road branches off in two directions. The road on the left heads south to Mount Lycaon (Lykaion). If we continue going straight for 5.5 kilometers—actually making many turns in the dirt—we will end up at the provincial road that connects Messene (Messini) with the Temple of Apollo Epicurius. About 1,800 meters before the country road, we will see a very well maintained large stone threshing floor on our right.
