For a very nice little expedition from Agios Dimitrios, the southernmost settlement on the island, follow the seaside dirt road south for 1 kilometer. At this point the road on the right goes to the southern tip of the island, the cape of Agios Dimitrios. However, we can continue to the left, reaching a crossroads after 200 meters. There we can turn right and head east for another 200 meters to a fork in the road. The branch on the right ends in 700 meters at the idyllic sandy beach 'Avlaki tou Psara.' The branch on the left ends at a gate after 1 kilometer. Unfortunately, as there is no place to leave our car near the gate, we must park well before that spot and continue on foot. By the gate, we will see on the left a path that ends in 100 meters at the very beautiful sandy beach of Petrousa.
