To the Castle of Oria

To reach the Byzantine Castle of Oria, take the road toward Loutra. 300 meters before the village, we will see signs and a road heading off to our left. Follow that road for 2.1 kilometers to reach a crossroads where dirt roads head off to the right and left. The one on the left goes to the northwest, while the one on the right heads southeast. Go left on the moderate to bad dirt road for 1 kilometer, reaching the end of the road, a flat area where we can leave our vehicle. Above us to our right is the church of Saint Philip (Agios Filippos). The beginning of the path to the Castle of Oria (also called Katakefalo) is on the left. The path is passable and short (1 kilometer, 15 minutes). The castle becomes visible toward the end of the path, with its gate overlooking the rugged landscape from a position that is inaccessible from any other side.
