The little church and monastery of Saint Nicholas (Agios Nikolaos) is 200 meters from the southern edge of Marathi's most popular beach and 30 meters above sea level. The path that leads us to the church starts at O Peiratis Taverna. We can find a few ruins of stone houses from the island’s old settlement near the church. The few people who used to live here were involved in fishing, raising goats, and fava farming. Southeast of the church, we can find a short passable path that leads to the highest point in the southern part of the island (50 meters altitude). From this point, there is a lovely view of the settlement of Marathi, as well as all points on the horizon. It is worth making this little detour to enjoy the view.
