Located in the theater district, the House of Dionysus (or Dionysos) was named after the central floor mosaic in the colonnaded courtyard. The extraordinary mosaic made of glass and semi-precious stone tiles depicts the god Dionysus sitting on a tiger with a wreath of vines and grapes around its neck. The same subject appears in a mosaic in the House of the Masks.
