The ancient theater of Delos was built on the site of an older wooden theater in the 3rd century BC. With 26 rows in the lower part and 17 in the upper section, divided into 7 sections, it could seat up to 5,500 spectators. The foundation of the stage building (skene) has survived in front of the circular orchestra.
