Delos lacks springs and rivers, its climate is anhydrous. The rainwater forms streams that dry up, including the best-known riverbed in ancient times, the Inopos. Three main reservoirs were used for the water supply of the island: the rectangular reservoir of the theater, with a capacity of 405 m3, the rectangular reservoir of Inopos, with a capacity of 1460 m3, and the natural reservoir of the Sacred Lake, with a capacity of 7000 m3. In 1925, after an outbreak of malaria, the lake was filled in. This is the large reservoir of the theater, next to the ancient theater.
