Jewelry - Lake District

Three main residential districts have been excavated in Delos: the Theater Quarter (the oldest on the island), the district of Skardana and Limni (Lake), and the Stadium Quarter. The district of Skardana covered the area that started from the archaic harbor of Skardana and reached the area where the sacred lake was found. This was one of the newest neighborhoods in the city and the first to be set on fire during the pirates' raid of 69 BC. In one of the seven residences that form the insula of jewels, there were impressive discoveries: a mosaic floor in very good condition and buried chests of jewels (apparently hidden from raiding pirates). The chests were full of the typical ladies' jewelry of the era: gold earrings, gold pendants, and gold chains.
