The Holy Monastery of the Virgin Mary (Panagia) Tourliani was founded in 1542, and the settlement of Ano Mera developed around it over the years. The monastery took its present form in 1767. Its name comes from the icon of the All-holy Virgin Mary (Yperagias Theotoku), which was found in the area of Tourlos. Notice the architecture of the complex and the relief decoration of the bell tower.
