Konstantinos Kanaris

A bust of Konstantinos Kanaris, the best-known Psarian fighter (1793-1877). In addition to his important contribution to the Greek Independence War (with his achievements listed on his memorial column), Kanaris played an important role in the political activities of the newly established Greek state, initially as an admiral in the Hellenic Fleet and then as Prime Minister, serving in this position five times over a total of 34 years.
