Leaving our vehicle at the point where the road toward Kokkinokastro ends, we follow the path down to the beach. As we descend, we will see on our left an opening in the well-built stone wall of a paddock (the point we show here). The opening leads into the pine forest behind Kokkinokastro. From here, the footpath goes down less than 100 meters to the deserted beach on the northern side of Kokkinokastro. If we proceed a few meters east instead of following the path to the beach, we will arrive at the point where the narrow 'neck' of Kokkinokastro's peninsula starts. From here we cannot continue safely to the peninsula, because there is a cliff on both sides.
