The northern part of Alonissos is largely uninhabited and difficult to reach. Picturesque Gerakas is the only point accessible by road. If you want to get to know more than its beach and small harbor, follow the path to the area that the locals call Tourkou Mnima for a lovely experience. The beginning of the path is on the right at the end of the road (that is, across from the snack bar at the beach, before the small shrine of Saint Nicholas). Marked with red dots, the trail heads east along the coastline. It is relatively passable, although at some points the vegetation is dense. The path ends after about 1000 meters, or 30 minutes of walking, at Tourkou Mnima, which faces the harbor of Gerakas, across the bay. Here, in a corner of the bay, there is a small pebbly beach among the rocks. The path continues for 200 meters and ends behind a small hill by the bay.
