Saint (Agios) Athanasios is a one-room church in the center of Chora (Alonissos) that dates back to the 17th - 18th century AD. On the remarkable carved wood icon screen, notice the icons of Christ (1873) and Saint John the Baptist (18th century). In the church, the icons of the Birth of Christ, the Enthroned Virgin Mary, and the Prophet Elias are also noteworthy. They all date back to the 17th and 18th centuries.
