Path to the Church of Saint George

We can reach the country church of Saint George (Agios Georgios) north of Sfentouri by taking a detour to the right (southwest) off Path Two (2). The path for this detour comes from the Ancient Olive Grove (Archaios Elaionas) and ends at the little church of the Cross (Stavros) east of Perdika. (The distance between the two churches is about 900 meters.) We find the detour 1000 meters from the Ancient Olive Grove, where we cross the Chounis stream and then turn right. Straight ahead, Path Two (2) continues, ascending to the Achlada watering hole (400 meters from this point). Be careful at this intersection, so you don’t end up going the wrong way. Note that when you are on the path that leads to the church of the Cross (Stavros), you must turn obliquely uphill to the left onto a small 50 meter trail to reach the church of Saint George at a point shown on the map. Next to the church of Saint George, there is a traditional watering hole (souvala, for collecting the rain water).
