How to Get There By Car
If you have your own car, you can reach Methana from Athens in about 2.5 hours. Following the Athens-Corinth National Road, turn left after the Isthmus, toward Epidaurus (Corinth Exit B – Epidaurus). Drive for about 40 minutes, and you will reach the junction for Epidaurus. Just before that, you will see signs for Poros, Hydra, and Spetses. At the intersection, turn right, and immediately after going under the bridge, turn left.
Then follow the new road, watching for the sign for Poros, along with the signs for Hydra and Spetses. At this point you will make an oblique left turn, following the route to Poros.
After about 25 minutes you will reach the settlement of Agii Apostoli. You will come across a junction with signs pointing right for Poros and left for Methana. Head left toward Methana, where you will arrive after about 15 minutes.
By Boat
Saronic Ferries depart from the Port of Piraeus, transporting both passengers and cars. With a stopover in Aegina, the trip takes about 2 hours. Alternatively, you can take a Flying Dolphin from Piraeus to the island of Poros (only passengers, not vehicles; 1 hour journey time). From Poros, you go across the water to Galatas and continue on the road to Methana.
