How to Get There

You can get to Santorini:

1. By Plane.

Regular daily service from Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" offers access to the island of Santorini by plane (with a 40 minute flight). There are also often charter flights from different parts of the world. Santorini (Thira) International Airport is seven kilometers away from the capital of Fira, which can be reached via buses, taxis and private vehicles.

2. By Boat.

There are daily routes to the Port of Fira from Piraeus and other islands’ harbors. From the port of Piraeus, you can travel:

With the Blue Star Ferries: duration of 8 hours at a cost of 45 euros / person (airplane type seats) and 88 euros per car.

With the Zante Ferries: duration of 11 hours at a cost of 49.50 euros / person (economy class) and 83.50 euros per car.

With the Aegeon Pelagos ferries: duration of 9 hours at a cost of 42 euros / person (airplane type seats) and 89 euros per car.

Road Network

*It is worth noting that the island of Santorini has a very large road network with paved roads connecting all the popular destinations, villages and beaches. It reaches from the northern end at Oia to the southern Akrotiri, to and from the airport and the port of Athinios .

Other Means of Transport

Especially during the summer months, there are frequent busses (starting in Fira). There are numerous car, motorbike and all-terrain vehicle (ATV) rental agencies scattered around the island to provide you with a safe, comfortable means of transport.

Finally, many accommodation businesses offer transportation to and from the airport (often free of charge).
