Kamari

Kamari is located at the foot of Mesa Vouno on the eastern side of the island, 9 kilometers from Fira. It was the port of Ancient Thira and experienced great growth after the catastrophic earthquake of 1956 led the inhabitants of the devastated Mesa Gonia to relocate to Kamari. The black sandy beach is the settlement's hallmark and a pole of attraction for countless tourists every summer.
