The Akrotiri lighthouse (faros), one of the most beautiful in the Cyclades, was built in 1892 by a French lighthouse company. The tower is 10 meters high, and the focal height is 100 meters. The lighthouse initially used a diesel engine with 23 nm luminosity. During World War II, it was inactive until 1945. It was electrified in 1983 and fully automated in 1988. Today, it emits a white light every 10 seconds and has a 24 nm luminosity.
