Transfiguration of Christ

The church of the Transfiguration of Christ (Metamorphosi tu Christu) is located east of Megalochori, across from the starting point of the path that goes down the caldera toward the old thermal baths of Plaka and the little churches of Saint Nicholas (Agios Nikolaos) and the Virgin Mary (Panagia). The church of the Transfiguration is privately owned by the Gavalas family, which also owns the little church of Christ in Thermi that we can reach via a path that starts a little farther down from the church of Saint (Agios) Efstathios and ends at a beautiful secluded beach on the edge of the caldera.
