Discover the 200 year old Argyros family winery, which is located in the basement of a renovated mansion in the center of Messaria, and try the award-winning Avantis wines. The Estate Argyros was established in 1903 by Georgios Argyros in a 5 acre vineyard in Episkopi Gonias, Santorini. The current owner, Yiannis Argyros, who has run the winery since 1974, increased the area of cultivated vineyards to 65 acres, modernized the winery, and worked very hard to ensure the high quality of the raw material. The vineyard of the Estate Argyros is self rooted at an altitude of 35-150 meters, oriented to the east and southeast, and the vines are arranged in a traditional crown pattern. The yield of the vineyard is about 350-500 kilograms of grapes per 1000 square meters, and the harvest takes place August 10-25. The efforts of Yiannis Argyros enjoy recognition in Greece and abroad, including in Gourmet Magazine and Wine & Spirits Magazine.
