In Vothonas, we will find the most numerous and most characteristic cave houses on the island. The settlement is built on both sides of a gorge which now runs through the village as a narrow central road. Several mansions were built in the settlement in the late 19th century, when it was flourishing. This cave mansion on the southern edge of the village was used to host politicians and distinguished visitors.
