Virgin Mary of the Fig Tree

One of the six small Byzantine churches (single-aisled arched basilicas) of the island with 13th-14th century frescoes. The other five are the churches of Saint Nicholas at Raches Katergou, Christ or the Transfiguration of the Savior near Chora, Saint Stephen near Chorio, Saint Anna, the church of Episkopi, and Saint George near Episkopi. We can reach the Church of the Virgin Mary via a very narrow 1,200 meter cement road that climbs to the left, at the beginning of the main road of the island that connects Alopronia with Chora. From an altitude of 180 meters, the view of Alopronia Bay is beautiful.
