The small settlement of Agia Irini, or Riva, is the port of Thirasia at the northern end of the island. Here ships tie up, and so do the small ferry boats called pantofles, or slippers, which connect Santorini with Thirasia. There are also daily connections with Santorini using small boats called "lantza" that start from Ammoudi in Oia, and arrive in Riva and Korfos.
