1st Andros Trail Race
The first international mountain race in Andros, the Andros Trail Race, begins on October 2, 2016. More than a hundred athletes from Greece and abroad (Norway, France, Lithuania, China) have registered, confirming the keen interest in this race, the specifications of which make it one of the most demanding of its kind.
The athletes have visited the island to train in conditions similar to those of the race and become familiar with the routes. In this effort, a valuable helper is Trekking Andros & Outdoor Activities & Centro Café, one of the Andros Trail Race organizers, which coordinated trips to the race routes so the athletes could train, and also so they could enjoy unique hiking moments and become acquainted with the natural beauty of Andros.
The Andros Trail Race actually includes two races, one 10 km and another 22 km, for athletes of different capabilities. Both races will begin and end in the picturesque Bay of Korthi, and their routes include some of the most spectacular natural and architectural landscapes of Andros.
It is worth noting that the Andros Trail Race’s inclusion in the Cyclades Trail Cup ensures athletes who finish the 22 km race and have also finished the Tinos Challenge and/or the Syros City Trail the opportunity to participate without charge in races organized by the Italian company Camelbag ASD, which is responsible for the mountain race the North Face Lavaredo Ultra Trail and the city race Firenze Urban Trail!
