A very beautiful route, part of Path 1, starts from the church of Saint Stephen at Kipous and ends (in approximately 1,200 meters) at the church of the Upper Cross (Pano Stavros) in Palia Mitata or Paliomitata. The path is well marked. Initially we will see on our right the charming little church of the Lower Cross (Kato Stavros). Although it looks close, it is not so easy to approach, since the dense vegetation has almost blocked the path that existed. (See the relevant section for more about that.) Continue straight ahead, and cross a concrete bridge with partially collapsed railings. Turn left and walk uphill toward the church of the Upper Cross. Be careful not to fall into the stream; walk through the fields next to it. We will reach the church of the Upper Cross about 800 meters (15 minutes) after crossing the bridge. It is worth climbing the steps to the roof to admire the magnificent view of Chora and the bay of Livadi. The little church celebrates on September 14.
