Saint Catherine

Fifty meters north of the power station of the public power corporation (DEI) in Livadi, a dirt road heads off to our left and continues alongside a wide gully. 850 meters from where we turned, we will see the old church of Saint Catherine (Agia Aikaterini) on a hill on our right. It is not accessible from the street side but from the back side, where the ravine is (through a path overgrown with weeds). Near the church, on the other side of the ravine, the least known of the island's numbered trails, Trail 9, begins. It heads northwest, passes the churches of Saint John the Theologian (Agios Ioannis o Theologos) and the Virgin Mary (Panagia), and ends after 3,500 meters at the little church of Saint (Agios) Panteleimon (at 350 meters) with a magnificent view of Livadi.
