Beginning of Path 8 to the Church of Saint George of Watchtowers

A few meters below the taverna Akrogiali tu Vitu, which is located on the southwest edge of the gorgeous beach of Sykamia, Path 5 ends. The trail comes from Panagia and begins (or ends) Path 8. The longest of the numbered trails on the island and perhaps the most beautiful, Path 8 is approximately 6.8 kilometers long (total estimated time: 150 to 160 minutes). Its other end is located near Saint Thekla in Sklavogianni. The first part of the trail, a charming coastal route 1,500 meters long, begins here and ends at the little white church of Saint George of Watchtowers (Ai Giorgi tu Vigli), which overlooks the sea from above. On our way we will pass by Gialoudaki, a very small pebbly beach. After Gialoudaki Beach, the trail ascends to the northwest, moving away from the coastline. Here you must be careful not to lose the trail. As soon as we climb up the hill we will see the white church of Saint George of Watchtowers in the distance on our right.
