Old Settlement of Avessalos

The small settlement of Avessalos is one of the most picturesque on Serifos. Its few houses spread out along a small hill (75 meters altitude) south of Avessalos Beach. The houses of the village lead to the beautiful little church of the Virgin Mary of the Mountain (Panagia tu Vunu), which celebrates its name day on September 8, the same day as a local festival (panigyri). From the church we can enjoy the gorgeous amphitheatrical view of the wide sandy beach of Avessalos.
