Ieros Naos Kimisseos tis Theotoku

The refugees who came to Sarti brought the icon of the Virgin Mary from Afisia in Asia Minor. The church of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary (Kimisis tis Theotokou) is one of the ornaments of Sarti. On the holiday celebrating the Dormition, Sarti used to be flooded with people coming to see the procession of the icon and participate in the celebration. Now the icon remains in the church, but nevertheless the day is celebrated with reverence and splendor.
