This train station has been used since 1900. Initially it was called the Train Station of Poroia. After the Asia Minor catastrophe led to a wave of Pontic refugees (ethnic Greeks from the south coast of the Black Sea and other areas) in Greece, the settlement of Rodopoli began to develop around the station. Once the village was established, the name of the station changed. Today, trains pass through on their way from Thessaloniki to Alexandroupolis.
