Platanakia

"Countless plane trees, many of them very old, justify the name of the village, which derives from the Greek word for plane trees, ""platanos."" Built amphitheatrically on a hillside, the village is located at an altitude of 320 meters and has 450 inhabitants. Most of the residents or their ancestors originated in the Pontos region on the south coast of the Black Sea. Stelios Kazantzidis (1931-2001), a famous singer of Greek popular music, also spent his childhood in Platanakia."
