Plataniotissa
(Klapatsuna)

A lovely village that crosses the Keritinis tributary. It is well known for the little Church of the Virgin Mary of Plataniotissa that has been formed in the hollow of a huge plane tree that was created by the fusion of three trees. The plane tree has a height of about 25 metres, the perimeter of its base is 16 metres and can take up to 20 people. An icon of the Virgin Mary of Plataniotissa has been imprinted on its trunk 3 metres from the ground.
