Dormition of The Virgin Mary

The grand Church of the Dormition in Lapanagoi. Built (in 1905) exactly on the edge of the cliff, it is in danger of slipping off its foundations and collapsing due to the unsoundness of the ground. Today, (2014), interior works of preservation and restoration are taking place but the work for the permanent restoration requires 1 million euros, an amount that today is unavailable. Of special interest inside the church are its pure white altar in plaster with filigree details and its tiled floor surface.
