Sunny, picturesque, mountain village neighbouring Drosato (1km south). The former name of the village was Kato Goumenissa, as opposed to Ano Goumenissa, as today's Drosato was called (1km north). It is said that the two villages took their names from the Abbess of a Byzantine Monastery that was in the region. The area has traces of habitation since ancient times and at the 'alonia' location(at the southern entrance of the village) tombs of the pre-Mycenean epoch have been excavated.
