A very beautiful mountain village, 15km NW of Kalavryta. The old name of the village was Ano Goumenissa, as opposed to Kato Goumenissa, as today's Goumenissa was called (1km south). It is said that the two villages took their names from the Abbess of the Byzantine Monastery that was in the region. West of the village the River Manesaiikos flows, a tributary of the Selinoudas river.
