Several Byzantine and post-Byzantine churches were built in the area beneath Faraklo and above the plain of Neapoli. From the little church of Saint (Agia) Marina, we can start exploring the labyrinthine dirt roads of the area to discover the ruins of some of them. The church of Saint Nikon (Agios Nikonas) is in a semi-ruined state, but some religious paintings have survived inside. A little below it, we can find the half-ruined church of Saint Constantine (Agios Konstantinos). Higher up on the road to Ano Kastania, we encountered the church of Saint Eustratius (Agios Efstratios).
