During the time of Turkish domination, Faraklo was the center and capital of the region, and its governor (Hotzas) had his tower here. The ruins of some characteristic tower houses have survived in the village. We will see one next to the church of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary (Kimisi tis Theotoku) as we enter the village, coming from Mesohori. We can find a second, larger tower that is in worse condition in the upper part of the village if we follow the path that heads left from the community office. (The path to the right goes to the old elementary school.)
