Prophet Elias

Climbing to Ano Kastania on the road from Faraklo, after we pass the little church of Saint Peter (Agios Petros) on our left and the intersection for the Monastery of Pantanassa, we will see on our right a sign pointing toward the site of the church of the Prophet Elias (Profitis Ilias). The rough dirt road ends at the top of the hill (740 meters altitude), with an unobstructed view of all points of the horizon. There is no longer a church here--just a few stones where the little church of the Prophet Elias (Profitis Ilias, or Eh-Lia) once stood. Telecommunication antennas have been set up here, and there is a lot of discussion about whether to allow a small wind farm in this area.
