Annunciation

The cathedral of Faraklo with an octagonal dome, the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary (Evangelismos tis Theotoku), is in the center of the settlement. The church was renovated in 1948. Its courtyard is a 'balcony' overlooking the plain of Vatika, Neapoli, and the Lakonian Gulf. Next to the entrance of the church, a monument has been set up to honor the fallen inhabitants of the village. An inscription on the side wisely reminds us that 'A place does not die when its people leave, but when they stop loving it.'
