Path to Cape Maleas

To reach the lighthouse of Cape Maleas, take path D10. The path starts in Velanidia and ends at the lighthouse, with a total distance of 8,300 meters and a three hour hiking time. Quicker access is possible from the church of Saint (Agios) Myron. You can leave your vehicle after the Saint Thomas Water Fountain and descend toward the sea. (There is a sign showing where to go.) From here, it will take 60 to 75 minutes to reach the lighthouse, which is about three kilometers away. The path is quite passable, without major altitude differences, it is considerably smoother than the path to the monastery of Saint Irene (Agia Eirini). Because there is almost no shade, it is advisable to avoid this hike during the hottest, sunniest hours, and definitely take plenty of water with you.
