The most important attraction in Pantanassa is the three-part, five-domed cruciform 13th century Byzantine church of Saint (Agios) Athanasios, which is dedicated to the Virgin Mary, Saint Athanasios, and Saint (Agios) Spyridon. According to tradition, it was built by the daughter of Emperor Andronikos Palaiologos (or Andronicus Palaeologus), Irene Palaiologou. The settlement's cemetery is next to the church. We can reach the church by starting on the road to Kriovrisi and turning left about half way there, at the relevant sign. The church is 600 meters from the sign.
