The Byzantine churches of Saint George (Agios Georgios), the smaller one, and Saints Theodore (Agii Theodorii), the larger one, are by the eastern side of the castle of Ano Poula. Their religious paintings date back to different periods (11th to 14th centuries). Unfortunately, the churches have been completely abandoned, so that they are half ruined inside. To reach them, we follow the footpath that leads to the castle's entrance from the church of Saint Nikitas (Agios Nikitas or Ai-Nikitas), after Kipoula's cemetery, and then head north along the eastern side of the castle. Since the footpaths are overgrown and blocked by stones, the hike is tiring and difficult, although the distance is not great (about 600 meters from the entrance).
