The half-ruined little church of Saint Spyridon (Agios Spyridonas) is almost hidden beneath the soil at the edge of Giorgaina beach, Kamari. Near it there is a spring with brackish (glypho) water, so the area was called glypha, and women from nearby Kalyvia and Paganea came and washed their rugs there. If you swim at idyllic Giorgaina, you will feel the cold fresh water welling up and displacing the warmer sea water.
