After the 2nd half of the 17th century, several families from Itylo emigrated to Tuscany and Genoa, while others went to Corsica. The monument erected in 1990 in Castle Square in Itylo refers to the fraternization of the community of Itylo with that of Cargèse, Corsica, which was founded mainly by Greeks from Karyoupoli, Mani.
