The area of Profitis Ilias, northwest of Almyros, has been designated an archaeological site by decision of the Central Archaeological Council. The panoramic view across the southeastern part of the island will compensate you for the difficult (due to fencing) but short climb to the top of the hill. In the area, there are numerous remains of scattered stone and ceramic building materials as well as large rectangular stones that seem to constitute part of the walls of a fortress that was located here.
