New Port

In the next cove to the west of Portokali Beach, in the bay of Livadi, there are the remains of an early Christian basilica, and archaeological excavations are underway. At this same point, the first blocks of an underwater pier for the island's new port have been put in place. Work on the planned port has been stopped temporarily (as of 2014) because of the archaeological investigation.
